Kappa League is the youth leadership development program of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., created to help young men reach their highest potential. The program was founded in 1969 by the Los Angeles Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi under the direction of Brother Mel L. Davis. His vision was to provide structured guidance and mentorship to African American high school males. preparing them for college, careers, and leadership in their communities.
Since its founding, Kappa League has expanded nationwide, impacting thousands of young men through mentoring, academic support, community service, and personal development. The program focuses on six key areas known as the “Seven Phases” of Kappa League: Self-Identity, Training, Competition, Social, Health Education, Economic Empowerment, and College & Career.
Locally, the Monroe Alumni Chapter established its Kappa League to continue this proud legacy by cultivating leadership, scholarship, and service among young men in the Ouachita Parish and Monroe City School Systems. Through workshops, volunteer projects, cultural enrichment, and college preparation, the Monroe Kappa League empowers young men to strive for excellence in every aspect of their lives.
Kappa League continues to stand as a beacon of mentorship, discipline, and achievement while developing the next generation of leaders who embody the principles of Kappa Alpha Psi: Achievement in Every Field of Human Endeavor.
